Here are pictures from Quinn's 1st birthday. We had ssssssoooooo much fun. We were blessed to have lots of family come to visit and we made many great memories. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Sorry, they aren't in any order really.

Quinn got his car at 1, not 16.

Quinn wasn't sure how to open his presents, but he got the hang of it.

Long Update!

Sorry it's been so long. We have had a busy summer and fall and things are finally starting to calm down so I thought I'd update everyone on what's been going on here.

QUINN TURNED ONE!!!!!
Thursday, Oct. 14th, Quinn turned one year old. I can't believe it's already been a year. I now know what it feels like when everyone said that time flies when you have kids and they grow up so fast. Quinn is learning new things every day and I love to see it. Yesterday he started saying "uh, oh" along with mama, dada, ball, wow, and today I think I heard his say oh no. He's also starting to learn sign language. He took a step or two on his birthday, but is now finally starting to walk pretty well. He's letting go of things and just walking to where ever he wants to go. He's a great eater, eating just about anything we offer him, and even if he doesn't like something I'll offer it and he'll keep tasting it. He's drinking whole milk now and easily weaned from bottle to sippy cup. He's a great sleeper most of the time, taking one or two naps a day and sleeping through the night. He loves to play. He has fun wrestling with Dad on the floor, well with anyone on the floor actually. If you lay on the floor with him around, you become his own personal jungle gym or something. He loves to play with his friend Lili, who's barely a year older than he is, and they have lots of fun together. It's fun to watch them play and interact together. Quinn also loves to read. Almost everyday I'll catch him sitting in front of his basket of books flipping through the pages talking to himself like he's reading. It's so cute. We read together everyday so I guess it's rubbing off on him. He's such a fun kid.

Lawrence started his 5th semester of school. He's got a full load of classes that keep him very busy. I'm very proud of all his hard work at school. He's also kept very busy with maintenance work for the houses/ apartments we manage. We manage older homes, so there is a little more work to do.

My days are filled with office work, taking care of Quinn, sewing or some other craft, hanging out with friends, etc. We've made a lot of great life long friends the past 6 months or so and we all have a blast together. If we're not working, we're playing. Life couldn't get much better.

Ankles and Stairs, Oh My!

I can not believe it's August already. This summer is flying by, and I knew it would. The past few weeks have continued to be crazy. Last Monday was a big bummer. After working most of the day, I gues my right ankle didn't feel like doing any more so it gave out on me and now I have a sprained ankle. It's been over a week and I still can't put any weight on it. Yesterday I went to the chiropractor to see what he could do for me and he did wonders for it. I still can't do much, but it actually feels like it's healing now. The doctors at community care didn't really want to do anything for it, but the chiropractor is going to keep working on it for a couple of weeks. He said I sprained it really good. The bruises on my foot are ugly. My whole ankle, on both sides is black and blue. When I got home on Monday after getting x-rays and stuff I quickly learned that it is very difficult to take care of a very active 9.5 month old little boy, but we are managing and we've had lots of help from friends. Also, on Monday, Lawrence and some friends had planned a surprise birthday party for me, which was fun and helped me get my mind off the pain. Lawrence got me an Amazon Kindle for my birthday. I have been wanting one forever and I have been using it everyday since then. This past weekend we also moved to our new apartment where we are managing the girls apartments. With a sprained ankle I couldn't really do much, but again, with the help of many fabulous friends, we were able to get it done and now we're working on unpacking and organizing. We had to downsize a little, but for free rent, it's worth it. The downside to this move is that our new apartment is up a big flight of stairs so I try not to go up and down them much. This upcoming weekend we are also going to Colorado Springs to visit Lawrence's family and go to a family reunion so that will be fun. We've been looking forward to going for a while. After we get back we'll be busy getting ready for the Fall semester. Lawrence has a long list of maintenance work and I've got lots of the administrative stuff to do. Well, sorry there still aren't any pictures. I have no idea where our camera is in this crazy mess of boxes and stuff, but hopefully after our trip to CO we'll be able to get some posted. I hope everyone who reads this is doing well and enjoying their summer. Bye for now!

Insanely BUSY Life!!!!

So many people have been asking for an update on the goings on of the Hauptly Family. Well.....needless to say we are INSANELY busy. Let me explain why. (This is a long one.)

At the beginning of June Lawrence and I had been thinking about moving to a bigger place here in Rexburg. We were also looking for a job as apartment managers that would help us out financially. Well, one day I really felt prompted to look at the job postings for apartment managers and low and behold, there was one. We sent in our resumes and cover letter that night and got an almost immediate response asking for an interview. We interviewed for the position the next day and we were very quickly offered a job. So we are now the managers of a single girls apartment complex here in Rexburg. You can check it out at www.saqqaraprop.com.

We were supposed to train and learn our job slowly through the month of July, but unfortunately the current manager had to have an emergency c-section a month and a half early. So two days after we were hired we had a few very quick, heavy training sessions with the owner teaching us the basics of how to do everything. The other problem was that the owner was going to girl's camp the next week so she wouldn't even be there to help either. So after a few days, we were in charge. I pretty much do all of the office/ administrative work and Lawrence does the maintenance and he helps me out with the office stuff. It's perfect because I can work on it when Quinn is napping or he'll play for a little bit while I work then we'll play together and we'll switch from him playing independently to playing with me.

Anyways....this upcoming week will be crazy because the semester will be ending and girls are checking out, which means white glove cleaning, and more maintenance work for Lawrence. We also have girls checking in on the same day to stay for the break before the fall semester starts. If I can make through this upcoming week I'll be doing good.

We'll also be moving at the end of this month to our new apartment on the property. We get free rent, free utilities, laundry, etc. in exchange for our work managing the property. This will really help us out financially and we truly feel blessed with this opportunity. Like I said, I really felt prompted to look for this job and I know that this is a blessing from our Heavenly Father. We've had fun learning our roles as managers and getting to know all the girls has been fun.

Now I know everyone wants to hear about Quinn. Can you believe that he is already 9 months old? I can't! He is growing up so fast. He is still loads of fun and we love to play together. At his 9 month check up he was 18 lbs. 14 oz. and 28. 5 inches tall. I'm pretty sure he's had a growth spurt since then too. He has two teeth now and I'm sure some more are coming soon. He's learned to play peek-a-boo on his own, he starting clapping, he says mama and dada, he pulls all of his toys out of his toy box, and he loves to swim and play outside, especially with his friend Lili. He can pull himself up to standing on just about anything and he can now reach the countertops. Boy are we in for it now. We have to be careful what we put near the edge of the counter because he will try to get it. He's a great eater and will eat just about anything you give him. One of his favorite things to do is play on our bed first thing in the morning after he wakes up. He'll bounce around and throw himself all over the place because he knows it's soft and he won't get hurt. Surprisingly he's only fallen off the bed once and he luckily fell on a pile of pillows. One funny thing he does...if anyone, and I mean anyone, closes the front door, he throws a fit. Even if it is someone he has never met before. We're not sure why it makes him so upset, but it's kind of funny. He doesn't really have too much stranger anxiety so I don't think it's that. But, he's so much fun and happy most of the time and I am extremely blessed to be his mother.

On to Lawrence. He is right in the middle of all his final projects and finals are next week so he's busy with that. He has worked on campus all semester with the career and internship office and he continues to enjoy that. He was also accepted into the Fast Grad program so he'll be going to school year round now, which will help him get through school a little faster than we originally planned. I'm so proud of him and all the work he does with school.

I stay busy with our new job and getting ready to move. I've also been having fun with some friends working on some sewing projects. I have two friends, Caryn and Sara, that I get together with and we all just have fun sewing, chatting, watching a movie, etc after our kids go to bed. I love getting together with other women and moms. There aren't very many days that go by that we don't have a play date of some sort. A couple of days a week I also work up in our garden. The school here offers married students a plot of land to plant a garden so we've got lots of stuff growing; peas, potatoes, green beans, cantaloupe, cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, carrots, onions, tomatoes, pumpkin, and squash. We're really excited for it to continue to grow so can harvest the fruits. Talk about fresh fruits and veggies. Lawrence and I have also had lots of fun hanging out with some great friends. We're sad that we'll be moving away, luckily we'll still be in the same town. We get together with friends a couple of times a week just to play games and have fun.

It's been a great summer! It's been a busy one, but a great one. I say that it's better to stay busy anyways and I haven't had any time to get bored. I have tons of pictures to share, but lack the time to post them. I think I'll wait till after our move in a couple of weeks and then I can sit down and post lots of pics. I hope that all of you are having a great summer and this finds you all well.

The Cutest Baby Ever

I am the mother to the cutest little boy ever. Quinn is now 7 months. The time is just flying by. He crawls, laughs, loves to play on the floor, gets into EVERYTHING, talks and babbles all day long, and smiles. He can be a little grumpy at times because of teething, but that comes with being a baby and I don't mind. Most of the time he is such a happy baby. We're finally starting to get some warm weather, forgetting about the snow we had yesterday. We've played outside a few days with some other kids in our ward, which I'm sure we'll be doing quite often and we're also going to a play group once a week. It's fun to see Quinn interact with other babies/ kids. Well, here are a few super cute pictures. Enjoy!

Aaaawwwww!!!! I'm in the grass and behind bars! Save me!

He started pulling up on everything this week.

This is a quilt I'm working on for Quinn. It's an Eye Spy quilt. Ignore the pink sticky notes, they help me keep the rows organized. This is a picture of all the pieces laid out on the floor. I'm still working on sewing them all together. It's been a fun project to work on.

Happy Mother's Day To Me and Every other Mother in My Life!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to update everyone on the goings on of the Hauptly family. We are doing wonderful! I had a great Mother's Day! It gave me the chance to reflect on how much I love being a mother and the important role I plan in our Heavenly Father's plan for us. Quinn brings so much joy to our family. I love being his mother. Being a mother is the hardest thing I've ever done, as I know all you mothers out there will agree with me, but it is also the most rewarding.

In other news.....Quinn will be 7 months old this week. I can't believe how quickly he is growing up. He can crawl now, but he still prefers his army crawl. He also started pulling up on things and he can even bring himself to a standing position if he wants to. As expected, he's getting into everything. He likes to follow me everywhere. If I'm in the kitchen, he has to be there too. He'll put his head right between my feet and just watch me do whatever it is that I'm doing. He's a very observant and curious little boy. He's also a great eater. He has loved just about everything I've offered him, even peas. He mainly gets baby food. We've offered a few finger foods, but he just likes to play with it mostly. I'm sure he'll figure it out soon.

Lawrence is very busy with school and work. He's taking a pretty full load of classes, but he seems to like most of them and he has some good teachers. It's hard to believe that he's half way done with his bachelor's already. Sometimes I feel like he just started. He's still working on campus teaching for the career and internship office and he still has plenty of time to spend with us at home. If Quinn's not napping when he gets home from class, he gives Lawrence the biggest smile and is so excited to see and play with him.

As for me, I just stay busy taking care of Quinn and our home. I'm also working on a fun quilt for Quinn and I still get to read every once in a while while Quinn's taking a nap. Right now I'm reading "Little Women". I started the book a million times, but I've never finished so now I'm going to finish it. I'm also being brave in the kitchen and learning new recipes and trying new things. I love cooking now. I wish I had more patience for baking though. I do love to use my bread machine too. Well, I've got tons to do today. Sorry there aren't any pictures, but I'll post some soon. I hope everyone is doing well. Keep in touch!

Fun in Colorado

For our spring break this year we went to Colorado so Quinn could meet his Grandpa, Aunt Rainy, and many other extended family members. We had lots of fun, but didn't get to see everyone we would have liked. We'll be visiting again soon, so we'll make sure we fit everyone in then.

Bouncing in the doorway. Quinn loves this! Grandma and Grandpa got this one for him and we have one here at home that he just loves to bounce in.

Quinn's First Easter and Other Fun

We hope everyone had a great Easter. Ours was lots of fun. My mom and sister, Jani, came and celebrated with us. Quinn is now 6 months and he's so much fun. He's sitting up well and he's learned how to army crawl across the floor. He'll be crawling soon. He loves to chat and make lots of noise and he has the most adorable smile. Here are a few pictures from easter. I'll post more later of our trip to Colorado, but right now we're still trying tp get unpacked and back to normal so we'll post more later.

Having fun with his shadow.

Quinn and Aunt Jani. Jani stayed with us during her spring break. We had lots of fun.

Learning to drink from a sippy cup.

Quinn's not too sure what to think of this toy, probably because it's so big and it roles back at him. He's getting used to it now though.

He liked the grass more than anything.

He loved playing with the eggs.

5 months

Hello everyone! Quinn is now 5 months old. He is getting bigger everyday. He is moving EVERYWHERE! I will set him on one side of the room and a minute later he'll be on the other. He rolls most of the time, but he's figuring out how to scoot around and I'm sure he'll figure out how to crawl soon. He's a very determined boy. When he sees something he wants, he does everything he can to get it. We have to be careful what we put on the floor now. This week he has also started to make very specific sounds. His favorite one is"ba, ba, ba" He loves to talk and chat with everyone. His smile continues to get bigger and bigger and he will smile at anyone. Here's some adorable pictures we just have to share. I think these are some of the cutest we've taken of them and he's starting to learn to smile at the camera. Yay!!!

He was rolling around and wound up in his blanket.

I love this face! It makes me laugh.

He's always sucking on his bottom lip.

He loves jumping and swinging around in this.
